APPLICATION OF ANTICORROSIVE COATING SYSTEM

Presentation of the case

The offshore production platforms are built in steel and equipped with a cathodic protection system to prevent the deterioration of their submerged areas over time.

They have become very vulnerable to environmental factors combined with the dynamic incidence of salt water, strong winds, continuous wave changes, high temperatures and UV rays and settlements of biological colonies adhered to the entire exposed metal surface, especially in the “splash zone” (water-air transition zone) of structural piles.

All these factors accelerate the corrosive process and undermine the integrity of the structure, being one of the most critical problems for the structural integrity of the platforms.

According to this situation, the customer has expressed the need to have a solution that allows the anticorrosive protection of the piles of the platform, and that in turn is compatible with the existing cathodic protection system, does not violate the anticorrosive protection in base to present epoxy paints and allow a simple application.

The solution should also have the analysis to ensure long-term protection, preventing tides and conditions of use could limit both the application of the product and its useful life.

Solution

The technology selected to solve the need has been the application of an anticorrosive protection system on the splash zone of the platform support piles, which does not require exhaustive surface preparation (only manual cleaning type sspcsp-2) and can applied under salt water, with simple manual installation, without the need for curing time, it resists strong winds, wave swings, high temperatures, settlement of biological colonies and effective anticorrosive protection guaranteed by the manufacturer for at least 25 years.

Results and benefits

All the piles of the platform have been coated in the splash zone by the anticorrosive protection system, a system specially designed for “Offshore” applications that provides effective and long-lasting protection to the area most vulnerable to extreme corrosion.

APLICAÇÃO DO SISTEMA DE REVESTIMENTO ANTICORROSIVO

Apresentação do caso

As plataformas de produção offshore são construídas em aço e equipadas com um sistema de proteção catódica para evitar a deterioração de suas áreas submersas ao longo do tempo.

Tornaram-se muito vulneráveis ​​a factores ambientais combinados com a dinâmica da água salgada, ventos fortes, alterações contínuas das ondas, altas temperaturas e raios UV e assentamentos de colónias biológicas aderidas a toda a superfície metálica exposta, especialmente na “zona de respingo” ( zona de transição ar-água) de estacas estruturais.
